Meeting the Sado River

Rotas do Sal organizes tourism activities for groups and businesses in Portugal, like “Meeting the Sado River”, which is a proposal for a time travel, a journey through history and places where, at different times, Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs, among others, sailed with their mighty ships to the interior of the Alentejo.

tourism activites for groups and businesses in PortugalToday, it is still possible to navigate part of this route, so we offer you the possibility of getting to know some of these sections, namely from Setúbal, or from Tróia, to the charming Alcácer do Sal, where you can visit a city with 5,000 years of history and savor the unique gastronomy of traditional Alentejo cuisine.

This program is carried out in traditional Sado boats, historical vessels closely linked to the salt activity in Sado and that have been adapted for leisure and tourism functions, constituting authentic living museum pieces.

If you want to promote and stimulate your friends, colleagues or collaborators in your company outside the normal working environment, in an environment of intimate contact with the nature and history of the River Sado, try organizing a boat trip guided by the river Sado, right in the heart of the Natural Reserve, where you can feel the tranquility of all the surrounding nature, as well as its landscape, dominated by salinas, rice paddies, pine forests and the wonderful world of birds.
